Constant voltage LED drivers typically do not have polarity; the output is DC voltage (e.g., 12V/24V), and only voltage matching is required. Constant current drivers or drivers with dimming functions may have polarity, and wiring must be strictly followed according to the markings to avoid damage. Specific classifications are as follows:
Constant Voltage Drivers:
Fixed output voltage (e.g., 24V), polarity insensitive, commonly found in LED strips, advertising light boxes, etc.
If the interface is a terminal block, it is usually marked "V+/V-" or "+/−", but reverse connection generally will not burn out the equipment (some products have built-in reverse connection protection circuits).
Constant Current Drivers:
Need to distinguish between positive and negative polarity, commonly found in high-power LED modules (e.g., plant grow lights). Reverse connection may cause the LED to not light up or trigger circuit protection.
The terminal blocks are clearly marked with polarity; some models use color coding (red for positive, black for negative).
Smart/Dim Driver:
This may involve signal lines (such as DALI, 0-10V). Wiring must be strictly followed according to the instruction manual; reverse connection will cause control failure.
