Cabinet lights are primarily used for localized lighting and decoration within kitchen cabinets. Based on function and location, they can be categorized into five main types: interior cabinet lighting, under-cabinet lighting, shelf lighting, drawer lighting, and base cabinet lighting.
Interior cabinet lighting is mainly used for localized lighting inside wall cabinets. It is typically installed on the outside or in the middle of shelves to maximize illumination. Since most kitchen lights are installed above the cabinets, shining downwards, the light inside cabinets can be blocked by the cabinet panels, resulting in insufficient light. Interior cabinet lighting addresses this issue. Cabinet lights with infrared sensor switches can achieve automatic lighting. The sensing methods for cabinet lights are mainly hand-sweep sensors and obstruction-type (infrared or door-touch) sensors.
Under-cabinet Lights
Under-cabinet lights are used for countertop and sink lighting, primarily supplementing the main lighting on the work surface when the main lighting is insufficient. Some under-cabinet lights also have a decorative effect. They are generally installed in the middle of the bottom of the wall cabinets to ensure overall illumination of the work surface and avoid shadows.
Shelf Lights
These lights are mainly used for decorating and beautifying the space.
Drawer Lights and Cabinet Lights
Drawer lights and cabinet lights are used for interior lighting and usually have infrared sensor switches, which are a type of obstruction-based sensor. The lights automatically turn on when the cabinet door or drawer is opened, primarily to supplement interior lighting.
